Trevor, Brittany and Cliff Allard

We're 7th-generation Vermonters. Our mill site was part of the family farm on Old Ferry Road. The land and the extended community mean a lot to us. We started sawing timber here in the 70's with a 100-year-old hand set circular saw, and we’re still involved in every aspect of the operation. Now we work with 35 employees and buy from over 100 suppliers, using log yards as far away as North Haverhill, New Hampshire and New York State.

Vermont has changed a lot in our lifetime. To protect the place we love we all have to practice good land husbandry. Multiple use is the big thing - for this way of life to survive we need to encourage small farms, sugaring, tourism, recreational use and forest management side by side with planned residential and commercial growth. We work hard to create a sustainable use of forests so our way of life won't disappear with our children’s generation. To promote conservation and careful use, we also give tours to woodlot owners, school groups, and other community organizations.
